Yoga is one of the oldest systems of personal development in the world.
Yoga practise both relaxes and energizes the body and mind and brings vitality, flexibility, strength, concentration, self-confidence and mental calm. It helps us to get in touch with our inner resources to realise how we can live in harmony with ourselves and the environment.
The world’s most widely practised method of Yoga is that taught by Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar and his family.
There are over 2000 qualified Iyengar Yoga teachers in the world in over 40 countries with over 180 Iyengar Yoga Associations worldwide.
Mr Iyengar practised Yoga for over 70 years and the RMIYI institute in Pune, India continues to set the standard for his teachers and students whilst his textbooks on Yoga have become classics.
The BDIYI holds a programme of special events throughout the year with national and international Iyengar yoga teachers.
